Designer, Craftsman,
and Artist.

  Scott E. Armstrong, designer, artist,
and master craftsman, has had an intimate relationship with wood for
more than thirty years.

“Working with wood stimulates all my senses. It looks great, feels great and,

it usually smells great,” he says
by way of explaining the advantage
                                                                                of his chosen career.

Scott's work is shaped by 35 years of artistic and creative living, learning and working.
Growing up in northern Wyoming developed his independent spirit and

 love of natural materials.

Getting his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from the Kansas City Art Institute taught him to channel his creativity, showing him the value of the decorative arts,

and the beauty of modern design. "I went to college to become an illustrator,
but part of the program is to take three-dimensional classes,
and I felt at home and had more fun working in the shop building something.
Enjoying the shop more than studio I felt I could make a living building great furniture much easier than being an illustrator."

After graduating he worked in various  small shops in Kansas City including the Art Institute shop, and later working for John Noel, his Furniture Design Instructor.

Then on to eight years as a Senior Product Designer in the Furniture Industry which broadened his education in production methods and gave him a respect for

traditional furniture forms and ornamentation.

For the past 20 years he has been running his own studio and drawing

on this varied background
to create graceful, animated, one of a kind, limited  production,

 and commissioned pieces of
Fine furniture and cabinetry.
